Fashion Lingo ;)

Hey darlings!!! how was VALZ day for everyone? I guess it was superb and no1 roasted like me...lol. Anyway i've been doing a little reading on fashion lingo (fashion terms) and i have learnt the right way to use some of these terms and i have discovered a lot of new words too cos truth be told i've had lots of issues trying to describe stuff  relating to fashion to people so thought i should share with everyone.
Enjoy :)

Bespoke: something that is especially made for you; made for you from scratch.
Made to measure: when an existing garment is adjusted for you.
One-off: a garment that only one exists.
Limited edition: more than one but not so many that the girl next door will also have one.
Fascinators/Cocktail hats: decorative trappings made of fanciful materials such as feathers, flowers, lace or beads.

Flatforms: shoes with forefront platforms equal in height to d heel resulting in a high but flat(or nearly flat) walking surface.

Leg of mutton sleeve: a sleeve that is full and lose on the upper arm but close fitting on the forearm and wrist.

Pussycat bow: large, soft, floppy bow at the neck of a woman's blouse.

Sweetheart neckline: shaped like the top half of a heart.

Bandage dress: mummy-inspired dress first created by Herve Leger in the eighties then ressurected in 2007 by Max Azria, characterized by elastic strips.

Color block: design consisting of bold swatches of hues often appears in horizontal stripes.

Ditsy print: teensy floral patterns conjuring up a sweet innocent image.

Haute couture: french term that describes high fashion, custom made one-of-a-kind clothes made from the finest quality materials that usually cost more than $10,000, the kind celebs wear to upscale events like awards, premiers etc.
Faux pass: a blunder that can occur in social settings as well as in fashion, its an error in(style) judgement that should be avoided at all cost eg wearing sunglasses indoors.
Geometric pattern: characterized by the use of regular lines and shapes used for geometrical decoration.

Sheer: Very thin and diaphanous fine, Fabric: transparent/ semi-transparent fine.

Bat-wing sleeve: It begins at almost the waist and ending tight at the wrist.

Paisley print: soft wool fabric having the motif of swirling droplets resembling half of the yingyang symbol or a curved teardrop.

Baby-doll dress: short dress with or without high waist, similar to those worn by dolls.

Glitterati: crowd of attractive people who tend to be well dressed.
Tea length: a skirt length which ends at the lower leg i.e. between the knee and the bottom of the calf.
Preppy styles: typical fraternity/country club look that was huge in the seventies and has since remained a classic. It includes plaid shirts, polos, khakis and penny loafers.

Well that's enough fashion lingo for one day. Hopefully you enjoyed my choice of expressions, but in case I left out some terms that you've heard on the street, feel free to e-mail them at fashionitekture@yahoo.com
Enjoy the rest of your week :*

INCREDIBLE, WEIRD AND OUTRAGEOUS NAIL ART!!!

Hi F.arcs!!!
Its been two posts past since we posted any article written by ourselves (we thank our featured writers and we want them back with new male and architecture posts) but the reason is not far fetched though. We have been really busy with work/ school, our upcoming vintage sales and many other things.
Between all this chaos I stayed up one night and started to really miss watching Jerseylicious!!!! Even with all the drama and constant fights between troublesome Tracy and lovable olivia and the whole *Gatsby*crew, if you are a style and Fashion lover you would totally be smitten by there Accessories and nails and big hair and dresses and shoes!
But today! I remembered their nails and it inspired this post.
Enjoy pictures of this outrageous nail designs that only the Lazy and Rich can pull off except maybe its for a few hours event or photo shoot....
I love every design in these pictures so people absorb them and dream, if possible get a manicure......

theTEKTURE in FASHIONITEKTURE

Hi F.ARCS!!!!

Happy new month!!!!!
What better way to start febuary than with this architecture post written by
Yours sincerely,
'Tola Olaifa

Hi buddies,

When @blaquethay and @ms_mako approached me to write an article for fashionitekture,I was like WooW!! I was kind of shocked at first but I got over it.
I freaked at first because I thought they wanted a web page design (lol, @blaquethay 's probably just getting to know that).
Anyway, I later understood that I was being bestowed the honour of writing a piece in their blog fashionitekture.

I'm a fan of original style and fashion and this piece is about the 'alter ego' of
fashionitekture by that i mean the ....tekture side of this blog that you all have been looking forward to.

Architecture to me,
Is about designing SPACES in such a way that the STYLE just brings a whole new EXPERIENCE to the occupant of the space and that is what's going to be on display today; Buildings that have got STYLE  and what we call CONCEPT (inspiration)!!

Lest I forget, after looking through the pictures, leave your comments on them and  feel free to dream a little, share with us your fantasy dream house and what you would love it to look like or feel like, tell us what you want in it; I'll go first,
I want my dream house to have a pool with sharks in it, then a thick clear glass covering so I can walk on it, maybe have parties on it (like in that movie MECHANIC). Wild isn't it?
We can't wait to read yours.*winks

Anyway since this is the first architecture post, enjoy this mouth watering buildings.
